Aloha fellow Honolulu Sunset Rotarians,Recently I was reminded of what makes a great Rotary Club and more specifically a great rotarian. On January 30th I received an email from a long distance member. Lt. Col. Ben Chu was stationed here at Tripler Army Hospital because of the COVID epidemic. He found our club and became a member. Last year he was reassigned to North Carolina in the Chapel hill/Raleigh area. Attached is his message titled "The Rotarian Friendship". I would like to acknowledge the many members that have contributed to our club success and function. Glen Bailey who is working hard arranging interesting speakers for our meeting and also chairing some of the community service projects that we have. Win Schoenman and Beth Hoban with the website and communications. James Ham for seeing through the JABSOM (Medical School) Home van project.Jim Hoban doing the behind the scenes financial support as treasurer. The global international projects team of Arjun Aryal and Andy Chamberlain .Members like Elle Zang and Crystal Yount for going out on a joint community service project and joint international project. Dan Murariu for making the time to participate and help.Paul Jurcsak and Marco Schlesser for doing a great job as sergeant at arms/ Foundation and membership chairs respectively. Beth Hoban being the behind the scenes go to person in help me with the club week to week arrangements and meeting the district and Rotary international deadlines. Also all of the board members, thank you! Our success is because everyone cares, supports each other and contributes.Mahalo From PETS,Jonathan OkabePresident of Honolulu Sunset Rotar
