Honolulu Rail Transit Project Update

Lori Kahikina is the interim executive director and CEO of HART, the largest public works project in Hawaii's history. She is responsible for the design and construction of the remaining portion of the 20-mile Honolulu Rail Transit Project. She is committed to getting the rail built and being as open and transparent as possible.

The reason she would add to any event as a speaker is her extraordinary background. Kahikina is a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawaii, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a licensed Civil Engineer.

Prior to her position at HART, Kahikina served as the Director of Environmental Services for the City and County of Honolulu. She was responsible for administering the design and construction of the City's wastewater and solid waste programs. During her eight-year tenure, Kahikina successfully oversaw the completion of the federally mandated consent decree wastewater program of over $5 billion. She delivered on her duties on time, and on budget.

With HART, Kahikina is a lightning rod for media.  The project has been the center of controversy since its inception. Despite that, Kahikina has courageously assumed the responsibility and welcomed media scrutiny with grace.

As a leader, she has taken on the difficult task of cutting costs and securing funding for this mammoth project to persevere to its completion.

Lori Kahikina is an eloquent speaker, who is relaxed and upbeat. She is a tremendous inspiration for women and has thrived in the male-dominated industry of construction, development, engineering and civic planning. She is also the first woman and the first Native Hawaiian, to lead HART. I hope you will consider placing Lori as a speaker for your organization in the near future.
